The earliest sources relevant for our subject date back as early as the predynastic period, that is about 3000 B.C. In this epoch (and still later), the goddess Neith* played an important role in the Egyptian pantheon. Two attributes are typical for Neith: the Lower Egyptian Red Crown on her head and arrow and bow in her hand.
